Hiring A Lawyer?

Last week I went to one of the law firm in the capital at Wisma Jaya. The point was to discuss legal issues with regards to my outstanding financial obligation. I meet this lawyer, a lady in her 40s or so and she wasted no time to discuss my proposal with regards to the subject in question and the purpose I am there.

I described my current financial situation, which still not-guaranteed any fixed income to fulfill the financial obligation I have to meet. She seems disagree with my situation blaming Brunei market is just too small and not friendly for most businesses. Her words surprises me as if she views Brunei market and me specifically, will not be sustainable for any form of business success.

She added, only very big company such as DST, BSP, RBA, local banks and the like will only succeed in Brunei. Any smaller than this will not last long. And she suggested me to find a good job and stop do any business venture if I wish to have a clean name.

From her words, in some occasion she repeatedly says, if you want to do any business you must have good patient and it takes time for success or bear fruit. I wonder if she conscious when she said that? She throw a question to me but in fact she already knows the answer. IT TAKES GOOD PATIENT AND TIME TO SUCCESS.

Robert Kiyosaki took not less than good 5 years to perfect his business and it did not happen overnight. Hua Ho did not grow so big as today in 10 years. If anyone says they are good in business in less than a year, I really think those folks are not really doing it. They just do side income or an alibaba business.

I’m only in the business world for nearly 4 years now, and for me there’s a lot of things need to be learn in business rather than simply look the Brunei market is small and unforgiving. In fact, in my view, business is a work of relentless study to keep things right and fix the problems along the way or as you go.

You can’t simply judge one’s business or company from theory you get in classes or campus or by looking into the business plan alone. You have to go down the battlefield to the understand the game.

Being a businessman is like being a general of an army going to a battlefield. If you misinterpret the situation and armed your army with the wrong information and artillery, you are going for a suicide battle and let your opponent wins the battle. There are no little mercy in the battlefield, the same in business. No other business organisation will help you if you loose.

For that lawyer, I won’t hire her if I want to sort out my legal matters. She just not good!

As much as people look down upon small person like us, you still have greater faith in pursuing your dreams and business aims. Its the real world. Even them lawyers won’t make much money if they don’t work hard. Them law firms won’t make it in this real world when they don’t have support form small people like us. If we were perfect people with no financing defaults, them makan gaji lawyers won’t make so much business in this real world by suing debtors! haha.
Nevermind Mr Manager, lets show that lady lawyer who is the next best man. hehe

I agree completely. Come on, we used to work at banks and we know how they function. It’s not out of the norm. But the important thing is – You seem to have everything sorted out, although it may get quite tough, that makes the prize at the end even more cherishable, isn’t it?

Banks will be banks and lawyers will be lawyers. But if we preservere and succeed in the end, you’d only remember her as the lawyer who said it was impossible. Everyone’s got that sometime, from Tony Fernandes to Richard Branson.

I understand the bankers and the lawyers. They do it because they get paid for it. For us the full time business person, we need to think the reversal and most of all be creative. I agree with preserverence…the rewards will be great at the end.

I wish to see when this bankers and lawyers being put out of their current job with no fixed income. I just wonder how they can survive the challenge and torture of the real world business environment.
